China Coal Energy Co., Ltd., the listed arm of China National Coal Group, produced 10.48 million tonnes of commercial coal in April, down 5.8% from a year ago, said the company in a statement released on May 15.
The April output also declined 3.2% from March, according to the statement, partly due to production disruptions during the Qingming Festival.
The company's commercial coal sales decreased 11.9% year on year and 6.5% month on month to 22.40 million tonnes in April.
Sales of self-produced coal increased 6.2% from a year earlier to 11.10 million tonnes in the month, up 0.4% from the preceding month.
Over the first four months this year, the company churned out 43.21 million tonnes of commercial coal, down 2.7% on the year. Total sales fell by 13.9% to 86.27 million tonnes, with self-produced sales ticking up 0.9% to 43.41 million tonnes.
